First Gen Advocates

First-Gen Advocates (FGA) is a student-led organization at University Park for undergrad and graduate students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Supported by the Chaiken Center, FGA builds community, celebrates first-gen pride, and creates leadership opportunities through events, advocacy, and student-led committees.

Tri-Alpha

Tri-Alpha Honor Society

Tri-Alpha is a national honor society that recognizes the achievements of first-generation college students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The Eta Psi chapter at University Park was established in 2024.

There are currently 9 chapters of Tri-Alpha across the University at Abington, Altoona, Berks, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton, Lehigh Valley, Scranton and York.

Advisory Council

First-Gen Advisory Council

Established in 2022, the First-Gen Advisory Council is comprised of faculty, staff, administrators, and students from across the University. The council meets monthly and contributes to university-wide efforts to support first-gen students, enhance student advocacy, share best practices, and promote professional development opportunities.
